- an update from the Greensboro Truth and Reconciliation Commission-
No. 37 - November 1, 2005
UBUNTU - "I am what I am because of who we all are." For a more complete definition, visit Wikipedia
Greetings,
This week, Greensboro marks the 26th anniversary of the Nov. 3,
1979, tragedy. We offer thanks to all community members taking part
in our historic work of learning from what transpired in order to
transform our city. There's still time to join in by
registering for this
Saturday's Community
Dialogue.
- >Special
thanks to the Greensboro
Human Relations Commission for agreeing to play
a role in our Community
Dialogue, and to receive and use the information, ideas and
recommendations it will generate.
- Mount Zion
Baptist Church, one of the largest in Greensboro, is easy to find.
Here is a map.
For those taking public transportation, the GTA’s
No. 4 and No. 13 buses will take you there. Let
us know if you'd like one of the free day passes our GTA
has provided.
- Since
we're asking people to devote all day to dialoguing, we're
springing for lunch. Reserve
your space (and your meal) now. Participation is limited to 200
people.
- We've
once again hired Kimber Guard and Patrol, which will provide
security, in cooperation with the Greensboro
Police Department. Bags larger than a woman's purse will
not be allowed into the event.
- Volunteers
of the Week: We're expecting a productive Dialogue largely
because of the expertise of the 24 facilitators who have agreed to
help guide our large- and small-group discussion. Thanks,
facilitators!
- This
week's progress indicator: So far, 109 people have signed up
for the Dialogue.
