No. 4 - March 15, 2005
UBUNTU - "I am what I am because of who we all are." For a more complete definition, visit Wikipedia

Greetings,

To clarify, again, we are the Greensboro Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the independent, impartial body impaneled to create an accurate account of Nov. 3, 1979, and the issues surrounding it. The Greensboro Truth and Community Reconciliation Project is the group of survivors and supporters who successfully called Greensboro to this historic feat of grassroots democracy.
  • Every Tuesday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., anyone with a story to tell that's directly or indirectly related to Nov. 3, 1979, can drop in and tell it at our office (Suite 505 of the Self-Help Building, 122 N. Elm St.). Trained statement-takers will be on hand during those hours. Statements, which are essential to our work, also can be made in writing or at a time and place of the statement-giver's choosing.
  • The second in our series of focus group meetings will be an effort to connect with former and current members of the Klan, the National Socialist Movement and related organizations. It's tentatively scheduled for April 18, and help reaching out to people who might give statements from this mostly unheard perspective is welcome. Please call or e-mail us.
Upcoming:
  • Saturday, March 19, 9 a.m., Grimsley High School, 801 Westover Terrace - The Human Race. Join our team in this annual community fundraiser. To register to raise money for the Commission, contact the Volunteer Center of Greensboro, 336-373-1633 or [email protected]
