Greetings,

From socializing at the Green Bean to witnessing the creation of our world-beat jazz TV theme, we engaged with different people in different ways over the past week, and we're thankful to be getting so many different kinds of support.
  • Sound engineer Thomas Rowan's donation of his expertise and time Friday at his Sound Lab Recording Studio is the latest in a growing list of in-kind contributions for which we're grateful. Other contributors include the Green Bean, Carolina Net, DMJ Accounting and Auditing, Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., Chick Fil-A, Harris Teeter, and Target.
  • Wanted: Individuals willing to serve on a committee to plan a local fundraising concert by folk artist Si Kahn. If you're interested in helping, email back to let us know.
  • Every Wednesday offers a chance to get involved in our work by joining one of our door-to-door teams. Commissioners, staff, interns and volunteers have spread the word over the past months to nearly 100 households in all kinds of neighborhoods around the city. Want to bring a team to yours? Email or call us at 336-275-6462.
  • This week's progress indicator: So far, counting a recent grant from the Fenwick Foundation, $177,963 has been raised to fund the work of the Commission. (If you'd like to add to this figure, donations can be sent to us via the Community Foundation for Greater Greensboro.)
  • Volunteer of the Week: The Truth and Reconciliation Jazz Ensemble (Fred Wesley - composer and arranger - on trombone, Steve Haines of UNCG on bass, Wally West on saxophone, Steve Gordon on piano, Ben Jensen on drums and Oseiku on congas and percussion). Tune into the premiere of "TRC Talk," at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, to hear the theme song they recorded. Thanks, guys!
