UBUNTU - "I am what I am because of who we all are." For a more complete definition, visit Wikipedia

Greetings,

The connections we’ve been making – including over the past week with former residents of Morningside Homes, current residents of Ray Warren Homes and other individuals from all over town – have been mostly positive and productive. People have stories to tell and we remain convinced it will be healing to give them all a hearing.
  • Calling all artists! We’re accepting entries through this Friday for our Poster Contest, which invites visual answers to the question, “What does reconciliation look like?” The winner gets a $100 cash prize and his or her artwork will be used on posters for our public hearings. Electronic entries are welcome. For details, contact Chelsea Marshall at [email protected], or call her at the office, 336-275-6462.
  • Save the date: Speaking of public hearings, the first one is officially set for Friday and Saturday, May 20-21, at Triad Stage, 232 S. Elm St. The hours will be 12-6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. We’re extremely grateful to Triad Stage for allowing us to use their beautiful, centrally located facility, which includes comfortable space for such extras as child care, a media room and statement-taking.
  • In addition to our ongoing fundraising, we also have a wish list of other needed donations. First on the list is a small refrigerator. Anyone have one that’s not being used? Want to know what else is on the list? Give a holler to learn all the ways you can support this effort.
  • This week’s progress indicator: We have raised approximately $150,000 so far from foundations and grassroots donors committed to reconciliation and healing based on truth.
Upcoming:
  • This Sunday -- “Faith & Community: A Call to Prayer,” 6 p.m., First Baptist Church, 1000 W. Friendly Ave. Please join us at this interfaith gathering to celebrate the GTRC, the Partnership Project and the Greensboro Mosaic Partnership Project, with featured speaker Dr. Peter Storey, the South African Methodist Church leader and Duke Divinity School professor.
