Greetings,

Tonight we gather informally for our second GTRC Social. Well be saying goodbye to some more of our interns and hopefully hello to some new faces interested in sharing what we hope is an assortment of ideas and perspectives. Please stop in between 7 and 9 p.m. at the Green Bean, which sells a wide selection of coffees, teas, wines, beers and more.
  • Tickets are on sale now at our office, the Green Bean, BBs New & Used CDs/DVDs and Kut Kreations for Three Chords and the Truth: An Evening of Grassroots Music to Benefit the Greensboro Truth and Reconciliation Commission, 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at New Garden Friends Meeting. The pre-Labor Day concert will feature folk singer and activist Si Kahn, as well as local community storytellers Laurelyn Dossett of Polecat Creek, Scott Pryor, Polecat Creeks Riley Baugus, and poet Amaris Howard of the Collective.
  • Were working hard to plan our second Public Hearing and could use some volunteers to supplement the crew that did such an excellent job at our first Hearing. Interested in volunteering? E-mail us at [email protected].
  • This weeks progress indicator: Out of the 59 constituencies we identified early on as key to our research, weve so far received statements from people representing 38 of them.
  • Volunteer of the Week: Laurelyn Dossett, our multitalented singer/songwriter/counselor who is doing triple duty as our counseling coordinator, a member of the planning committee for our Si Kahn fundraiser and as one of the shows performers. Thanks, Laurelyn!
